Very interesting Frankie drawings , she's one of my favorite, if not my most favorite, Foster's charecter.
However, there's one thing that's been bugging me. According to that interview you gave around the show's premeir she's suppouse to be based on Lauren. Now I'm really curious about that, what's the story behind that?

    More purrrtty pictures please!

Hi! I'm Dany, I'm from Chihuahua, Mexico i'm 22 years old and I really am amazed not only by the talent that u all have but by the heart that all of you put in your amazingly cool work. I'm really thankfull to all of you because your work has changed my days in a very good way, by giving some new smiles to my face every time I watch Blo and the gang, by giving happy moments again to my heart every time I hear to all the cleaver jokes, by making myself to try to design my ideas again at the time I saw every drawn line u made, by making my batteries to get to full again by hearing the intro song, by giving a new hope of intelligent imagination...every time u get on air, and by helping us get trough this awfull days where the sadness is right at every corner. I've been watching your show since some couple of weeks and I wanted to say all this because your show has make me feel a kid again. I'll be coming here again often to watch all this valuable stuff, and I let u know that here's a friend...

    Dany //(dante_c13@hotmail.com)//

    PS.
Hope I can get someday and autograph from all of u guys!

Geez, it looks like she's going to pull a gun on me in some of the concepts. She seems to have gone through quite an evolution from concept to the final design. Was she a problematic character to work out; to fit in the mix?

Heh, Frankie looks (for a lack of a better word) pissed in a few of those.

I'm really glad you made her nicer looking :)

Ahhhh! What an angry person she used to be! I'm glad she ended up the way she is now; cute with a side of angry.

Thanks so much for posting these, I'm sure there's no need to apologise, you KNOW everyone is eating these up. =P

    Duchess, please? Pleaaaaase?

Developement Stuff is coll! All the Frankies look reletively the same. Looks like you knew what you wanted, but not exactly how you wanted. In the end, it came out great though!

I gotta say, all of these sketches and developmental images have been intriguing. All of you guys have done a stellar job creating one of the most visually pleasing series on Cartoon Network.

Kind of shocked that "Miss Francis" almost ended up being a blonde since I couldn't imagine her being anything other than a redhead.

Anyway, keep on keeping on and all that jazz.

Awesome! Thanks Craig, I was wondering when you were going to get around to posting Frankie artwork. The final design you went with definitely was the best choice. For some reason I can't help but think that Frankie's overall design is somewhat modeled after Lauren Faust. Just a guess as I've never seen Lauren but it would be amusing if my guess was correct.

She looks downright evil/possessed in some of those sketches, esp;ecially those few to the right. I notice that the PPG shirt is a part of most of the designs, though. That reference had to be stuck somewhere in the show, right?

Interesting how her eyes wound up being much larger than originally sketched. I like that. really enhances her facial expressions and makes her appear much more pleasant. (kudos to the animators who do a phenomenal job animating her face).

Glad that she didn't wind up being blonde.

Keep up the good work Foster's folks, I'll be watching.

I'm pretty sure that her name is "Frances" (the girl's name) not "Francis" (the boy's name). Next time Harriman calls her "Miss Frances" you can hear the short-e/schwa sound of her name, not the short-i/schwa sound of the boy's form of the name. This is coming from someone who understands this issue on a personal level.

!! blonde frankie! no way! like other people, I like her ultimate design. Although, regarding the comments about some versions being too "angry" or "emo" - we do occasionally see her cycle through similar expressions, usually when she's made to do a lot of drudge work or blamed for something she didn't do.

I'm really glad you guys are doing this blog... I also read Rose's craft blog now and then, though I've been neglecting it lately. Lauren's Galaxy Girl dolls are the bomb!

Feel free to "spam" with sketches. It beats not updating for months.

How about some Goo sketches? I love Goo.

Or, at least offer a prescription patch for the withdrawal symptoms.

    Dear Mr.McCracken,
How creative can you get man! I mean nobody except you could have created the most amazing show in the universe FOSTERS HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS!I hope you know that Foster's is my favorite show.I love you for creating all the shows you did!Even my dad watches The PowerPuff Girls!Yes I am sure you have made a difference in his life and also mine. Now I have a good reason for watching cartoons. Do you want to know what it is of coarse you do it's "But Craig McCracken made this show!"Because I usually only watch shows that you have done because I think you are the most talented person I know and that is true because I don't want you yo think that i am lying wow I didn't notice but I am hesitating like cartoon characters do when they don't want someone to find something out but i'm not lying because I think you are the most famous person in the world! I wanted to know if you know who Joe Murray and Mr.Lawrence are because they are also very creative.I hope to work in storyboard and go to CAL Arts College and sit at your desk so I could know that I was sitting at Craig McCracken's old desk!I can't believe that you had one of the best Voice-over actors on your show Tom Kenny!I wanted to tell you how individual your characters are in Fosters Home for imaginary Friends none of them are alike each one has it's own personality it is so cool! And you do too! You have your own individual personality and that is what I like about you.I am so sorry this comment was so long I hope it hasn't waisted your time because if it did I am even more sorry than before. You are my favorte of all-time!

    Hopefully your friend,
    Lil'Porkchop

I've always liked Frankie. She looks so mean in the early designs. The blonde on of her looks almost like Terrence...with lipstick...and a larger chest than I'm sure he's used to. I do like the hair color of the one in the bottom right, though. The heavy eyeliner with that expression would be funny to see in an episode..perhaps some friends giving her a little makeover, and failing?

All the Frankies are good but Blue is kind of weird because I couldn't imagine what Blue would look like if he was a blob.

The one sketched out in blue between the evil-looking blonde Frankie and the one that's pointing is probably the least frightening out of all of them...

Boy, some of her designs made her look like SHE had some problems. I like her current design. She looks sorta like Vicky (funny, they have the same voice actress), but not so much, and it suits her.

BTW, the Powerpuff Girls shirt she has rocks. I want one.

    Hi there! I'm Elena, I'm México D.F. and I'm 15 years old.
I like your blog and Frankie is the best. Foster's home for imaginary friends is the best cartoon in anywhere in the world (good, at least for me if it is it). It has of everything, the animation, the design of the drawing and history is very good.

    Greetings!!!
